"A DIFFERENT APPROACH..."

This project represents a significant step into a new musical approach for me, contrasting with the often over-produced, highly synthesized styles prevalent in many modern genres today. After all, who says simplicity can't be beautiful?
Since my last album was released in 2022 (INK22), many aspects of my life have changed drastically. I've moved three times. Mila and I have had our first child. I've gone from being a man with a dog at home writing songs like the guy in the beginning of 101 Dalmatians... to a real life family man. Working full time and making time for music gigs on the side. While Hip-Hop and lyricism will always be dear to me, it has truly been the piano that has kept me grounded through all the changes. It's a quick portal to a world of creativity and emotion. It requires minimal fuss with setting up equipment. The joy and efficiency of sitting down and beginning to doodle melodies and harmonies is unmatched. Not to say, of course, that it is without it's challenges...

Admittedly, I feel that I have hit a difficult part of the learning curve when it comes to the theory behind the music. The technicalities. Sometimes they get in the way and distract me from what's important: playing what feels right (cliche, I know). Still, I believe the deepening of the technical skills will allow me to articulate the emotions and stories that come to mind more precisely and efficiently. So, throughout the past couple years I've made it a point to sharpen those skills. When I return from my second deployment I plan to expand these skills further but as for now, I feel its important to encapsulate these compositions so that you could hear what I've been up to and so I can have a place marker to look back and see how far I've came in years to come.

"A Different Approach..." reflects the paradigm shifts in my life as I transition into parenthood, family life and home ownership. Sitting at my piano continues to be my source of peace... a romantic meditation... a calm within the storm... an anchor to keep me grounded through all the changes. May this project bring you a sense of calmness that allows you to appreciate the beauty in simply existing. May these compositions help keep you composed... or comfort you as you unravel. May these tunes be a source of peace as we continue to grow into who we are.

Early Access
Streaming platforms are great for the convenience of listening, but unfortunately, quite awful for the profitability in making music. This presents a difficult challenge for independent artists to overcome... the amount we get from streams will never balance out the amount we put into marketing, buying equipment, much less putting money into the pockets of the producers, artists and engineers we work with.

So we have to take matters into our own hands. Platforms like Bandcamp, Even, [Untiitled], and our own personal websites like this empower us to continue making music and expanding our reach.
